Getting together to watch and celebrate the inauguration? This is the perfect snack for any small gathering! Indonesian beef satay is simple, elegant and delicious. I really love the La Cense flank steak, it is wonderful marinated and stir fried too. This recipe really celebrates this steak and because of the turmeric and soy sauce it has an exciting deep flavor.
Ingredients:
2 La Cense Flank Steaks
olive oil to cover pan
1 small onion, minced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 inch piece ginger, grated
1/ 2 cup water
3 tablespoons soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon cayenne or Indian chili pepper
1 tablespoon peanut butter
2 teaspoons turmeric
1 teaspoon, grated lemon peal
chopped fresh cilantro
Preparation: I like to marinate this over night, which tenderizes the meat and makes it far tastier not only that it easier the day you broil it!
To make the marinate you want to saute the garlic, ginger and onion until soft then add all the other ingredients, simmer and mix thoroughly let cool completely. Mine while cut the flank steaks against the grain into 1/8 thick inch pieces. Place in cooled marinate and marinate overnight.
Preheat the broiler, assemble the beef satay's on soaked wooden skewers( they usually need to be soaked for 20 minutes.)
Broil the satays for 3 minutes on each side.
Cook's note: I lot of people like to serve these with Thai peanut sauce but I love them plain, they are extremely delicious almost like steak on a stick! Be warned they go quick! Enjoy!
